2nd ribbon photoshoot
right my second ribbon photoshoot when Darren had mentioned that maybe I should change the idea and just use a body part to be honest I wasn't to happy but then as soon as he mentioned something about the arms an idea popped into my head I don't know why but I had the classic image of carrie in her prom dress with the blood down her, I think to myself I definitely have been thinking in the wrong direction by making the first photoshoot to look like its meant to be beautiful, so I striped down my idea and started to re-think so I thought of what Darren had said and how just having a body part might make the image more shocking. So then I used the idea darren had given me with the arms but it wasn't what I was looking for so I thought back to the carrie idea and how simple they made her yet we knew something was going on, so I came up with putting all of the ribbons onto the models face to make it look like she is suffocating and she is trying to take the ribbons off so here is 2 of the images that I really like the first image is one I like but the second has to be my favourite.
Image one
I really like this image and the idea of her hand going for the ribbon but when I was looking over them less is more in this case and from my second image hopefully you can see why.
image 2
alright this is my final image and like I said I think less is more in the case I really like the fact we can only see her eye and all of her mouth is covered aswell I would like to have a few changes like have it all sharp and not any depth of field but im just really happy with the way it has turned as when I look at the first photoshoot I feel like it was really bland and this one just pops, and just in case anybody was wondering if I see a ribbon any time soon I might go nuts as I spent 12 hours putting all of these ribbons together.

ribbon photoshoot
right so this photoshoot is for a different assignment so my idea was to have the ribbons come off of the model and make it look like she was stuck and trying to get realised from the ribbon, here is a few of my images.
this first image isn't my favourite but as you can see that my idea is to make her look like she is tangled up but for some reason in this photograph that it doesn't really give it that feeling aswell.
then in this image we can see that she is all tied up and is trying to break free but at the same time I still don't feel like I have the right image so when speaking to Darren he was the one who made me zoom into the ribbons in her hands and look at it from that aesthetic so luckily one of my fellow students had the studio booked for the next day.

assisting on a photoshoot with Phil Bamber
so I went on a photo shoot to help out a photographer that I'm interested in I had a really good day and was really nervous meeting him but he was so nice that I relaxed really quickly. Afterwards we went to meet the couple that he was photographing for an engagement photoshoot it was really interesting seeing how he got the couple to relax as they had never had a photoshoot before, after about 20mins they where perfectly happy and acting like phil and myself wasn't around. I really like the way he got them to relax and we went looking for different places that he could take images and he showed me this place where there was a massive river and forest it was amazing and since we where in the car I have not a clue how to return but it was on the outside of preston. I also got to take a few images but have yet to edit them so in the next couple of day I will hopefully get them up and see which ones I like.

portrait photoshoot
the other day I went to experiment with different lighting in the studio, to see what kind of effects I can get.
i find in this shot it was to commercial the standard studio shot I really want to start finding different ways to make the model and the photograph stand out and not look so plain and commercial. this shot was taken with the umbrella and a soft box. I'm not really happy with the lighting so I the next image I change the lighting around a bit to get more of a textured image.
in this second image I used 2 soft boxes on the side and a beauty dish on the one facing the model the light is a bit more harsh but it also brings out the image this isn't my favourite one out of the shoot but the whole point of doing this shoot is to try and experiment with lighting. The lighting on the face is to harsh I find.
this is my favourite images out of the whole of the shoot as it was one of those shots that I would have never had thought about the timing was just right and I think the lighting is just in the right place, the lights where in the exact same place as the second image but this one has to be my favourite out of this shoot.

make up ideas
I have been looking into some make up designs that I could add into my portraiture I have done this before with big make up but didn't design it on paper to get an actual stop and look at the work has gone into the make up here is one of my images that I did try to try out make up that was basically coming straight off of my head instead of a design that I put down on paper to make it a complex design this is
this is one of my own images where I have tried to go for extravagant make up but the make up didn't turn out the way I wanted it to, but I gave it a go I really did enjoy the shoot and was so much fun working with the lighting and the models.
I really want try and make some of my make up skills like the way that Rankin had in one of his projects. I really like the way that he has the make up design they are really eye catching also his portraiture is so beautiful.
the make up was done by Alex Box
the simplicity of this image is amazing using cut out paper and using models in the background to make the image pop.

1920s 30s 40s and 50s
I'm really love the style's from the 20s,30s,40s and 50s I think its the slick look and classic beauty, one of the photographers I'm looking at is Robert Doisneau I really like his work he is a documentary photographer but at the same time he has people in the shoots some might be constructed and others not but at the same time they are brilliantly put together, he was also hired by Life, vogue as a portrait photographer.
this is one of his most famous images 'kiss by the hotel de ville'. I just think he captured the moment and the way that the kiss is in public the people passing behind, this was taken in 1950. I just really like the style in those times just so classic pretty, the hair styles hats coats just the style in general just inspires me to do a photoshoot in that part of the century.
I really want to get some classic portraiture shots like Judy Garland, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, and Ginger Rogers. the elegance they make the image the composition the lighting just perfect.
Grace Kelly
Audrey Hepburn

Judy Garland
This image just has a classic clean feel to it its something I would love to try out in the studio with a stylist just to do this theme from the 1920s to the 1950s and show the range of different lighting to get a classic look here are some other actresses that I really like the style and way the have been photographed
Grace Kelly
Audrey Hepburn
Ginger Rogers.
well these are a few reasons why I want to do these theme just because they are so classically put together I will be putting more up and a few more photographers and ideas, I'm really looking forward to trying out some of these classical images and using the lightings to get some really amazing images. this little project will get me using the studio lighting as I am not 100% sure of what I can get out of the lighting tools.
Liverpool trip to the biennial
To be honest I wasn't a massive fan of the day not because of the awful weather but because of contemporary art not much of it inspired my like it was meant to, but there was a few pieces like the mirror on the roof reflecting the painting of faces that was on the floor that was pretty amazing, there was a few others that I did enjoy but in those places i wasn't aloud to take photographs one was of the room full of ribbon which has given me an idea of what I want to try and get a photo shoot out of my idea is to get ribbon and put it onto a hair clip or bobble and have the ribbon attached onto the wall and also have it on wristbands so the model is also connected to the floor, giving the ribbon a hard sense of feeling making it an opposite because ribbon is made out to be really girlie. so the exhibition has inspired me in somewhat but I didn't really enjoy it as much as I would have thought. but i really enjoyed the Beatles exhibition we went to with all the portraiture images this is what made me go wow this is amazing work plus being able to work with one of the most influential bands in the work that must have been one great experience.
here are a few of the things that we saw
this one by NS Harsha its called sky gazers this is one of the pieces that I enjoyed the mirror reflection making it look like there is more people painted people than there is :D
this is another one that I like I'm not to sure who it was by but when I find out I will put up the name, the reason why i like the idea of this is the way that they use thread to and then made them all attached to each other I found it quite funky, its something that I would never have thought of but I think it was well put together and this is one part of where I got my idea to have the ribbon attached and hopefully will be connected to the models hair and arms.
So there are a couple I enjoyed when I can find the image of the ribbon room I will post up a link where my idea has come from and hopefully a week on Wednesday I will have the my final images shorted and will add them on to show you how the shoot has gone.
